Author, Polly Holyoke: World Building Workshop @ Laura's

Wednesday, June 14, 2017 - 2:00pm to 3:00pm

How do you create real and believable new worlds for your reader? What kinds of details do you need to weave into your story? Whether you want to write fantasy or science fiction, you have to get the simplest details right, from characters' names to the food they eat. In this fun, practical workshop, she'll share hints and writing exercises which will help young authors create vivid new worlds for their readers. Recommended for ages 8 & up.

A former middle school teacher, Polly Holyoke has been writing stories since she was in fifth grade. When she isn’t tapping away on her computer, Polly loves reading, camping, skiing, scuba diving and hiking in the desert. Her first children’s book, The Neptune Project, has been named to three state reading lists. She lives with three rescue dogs, two spoiled cats and a nice husband who tolerates piles of books all over their house.
