Eanes History Group @ Westbank
Mar 4 @ 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM

On the second Monday of each month, join fellow history buffs in learning about, sharing, and celebrating the heritage of the Eanes area!

Eanes Area Geology: why we have chert, springs, and devil’s toenails

We will be treated to a discussion of the natural history and geology of the Eanes Area by hydrogeologist, Patricia Brobeck. Patricia moved into the Eanes district in 2000 with her son, Dennis Kinney.

Although she initially studied French and linguistics, she began studying geology after meeting a UT botany professor who encouraged her to study science. She completed a Ph.D. in hydrogeology at UT and worked for the State of Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission and the Department of State Health Services, remediating industrial and hazardous waste sites and cleaning up uranium mines.

Now (sort of) retired, she does geologic consulting and translation of geologic literature from French and Spanish to English. She spends her summers in France working on geologic projects.
