The Creative Arts Society is an Austin-based, non-profit 501(c)(3) arts organization actively promoting the development of the “Artist in Everyone.” Established in 1999, the vision of this group is to inspire cultural enrichment, community participation, and respect for diversity. Three artist members are featured in this exhibit:
Jennifer Polnaszek came to Texas from rural Wisconsin where she worked in the medical profession. Polnaszek works in oil, watercolor, graphite, and printmaking. She has exhibited in numerous shows and won awards for her watercolor. Particularly drawn to the human form and documenting the human experience through her art, she is influenced by both her love of biological science and anthropology. You can find out more on her website.
David Schwindt paints the diverse geographical areas of the Southwest where he grew up. His work has been exhibited in New York and San Francisco, as well as being featured in magazines American Artist and Art of the West. He feels that painting is way to get to know a place, and he hopes that his “work might stop you for a moment to linger over the light and colors of places visited.” You can find out more on his website.
Mary Schwindt loves traveling, as it offers new opportunities to capture images with her camera. Always on the lookout for dramatic landscapes, interesting gardens, and the accidental still-life, she shoots many images per day. After selecting the ones with the most potential, she tweaks them – sometimes a bit, sometimes a lot. She believes you can draw a lot of interest from an image with a little work. You can find out more on her website.
